Principle of scientific communication (Health and Life Sciences)

Course description

The module will enable researchers to master the rules of scientific communication. Data analysis will not be covered in this course.

The course will be run in such a way as to allow everyone to participate actively, particularly through exercises.

Course content 

This module will cover the importance of scientific communication, the techniques of written scientific communication (article writing), the different stages of scientific publication, and the issues involved.

Learning objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  •     understand the challenges of scientific publication; 
  •     explain the scientific editorial process: the typescript route, peer reviewing and ethics;
  •     master the principles of scientific writing: document structure, presentation of tables and figures, typographical rules and presentation of the bibliographic reference list.
